FAQ

Straightforward answers about how we produce news video, run our training sessions and work with broadcasters, newsroom teams and journalism students.

Frequently asked questions

Below are the questions we hear most often before a booking. If yours is not covered, write to us through the contact page and we will answer it directly.

What kind of stories do you produce video for?

We produce video for television news, including urgent and breaking stories that need filming and editing at short notice. Items are delivered in broadcast-ready formats so your team can transmit them without reworking. If you have a story outside normal news coverage, describe it in your enquiry and we will say honestly whether we are the right fit.

How quickly can you turn a breaking story around?

Turnaround depends on the location, the length of the item and how much editing it needs. We agree a delivery time with you before filming starts, and we confirm it in writing. We would rather give you a realistic time and meet it than promise something we cannot keep when the story is moving.

Who are the camera workshops and workflow training for?

They are for television news teams, individual reporters and producers, and journalism students. Camera technique workshops cover framing, lighting and audio for live and breaking stories. Workflow training covers story planning, ingest, editing queues and handover. We adjust the content to the experience of the group.

Can you train a single reporter who works alone?

Yes. Our field reporting kit coaching is aimed at single-person crews using a compact camera, tripod, microphone and mobile kit. We practise setting up quickly, checking sound and picture, and keeping footage organised so it is easy for an editor to use when it arrives back at base.

Do you edit and caption material we have already shot?

We do. Our post-production service covers editing, captioning and packaging of news items for television transmission. You send the material, we agree the length, style and delivery format with you, and our senior editor checks pictures, captions and audio levels before the finished file goes back to you.

Where do the sessions and shoots take place?

We are based at 14 Bridge Works Lane in Taunton. Training can happen at your newsroom or college, and shoots take place wherever the story is. We discuss the location and any travel in the written quotation, so you know what is included before you agree to anything.

How do I order and pay for a service?

You send an enquiry through the contact page, we reply with a written quotation or confirmation, and then we issue an invoice. Payment is made by bank transfer. Nothing is bought on the website itself, and there is no online or card payment.

What happens if I need to cancel or change a booking?

Tell us as soon as you know. Cancellations and any refunds follow our payment and refund policy, which sets out what applies at each stage. Where a date can simply be moved, we will always try to find another slot that suits you before treating it as a cancellation.
